Volleyball Finishes Saint Francis Tournament with a Win by Defeating the Host 3-0; Falls to Iona in the First Game of the Day

Loretta, Pa. - The Loyola volleyball team picked up their third win of the 2004 season Saturday with a 3-0 win over Saint Francis. The Red Flash fell to 0-9 on the season while the Greyhounds improved to 3-8.

In the last game of the tournament, the Greyhounds showed their resilience defeating the host in three games by scores of 30-27, 33-31 and 30-28. Loyola was led by junior Becky Corb who tallied 17 kills and nine digs. Corb's hitting percentage was a team-high at .343. Blair Snyder and Christina Greenup added seven kills to follow Corb. Setter Krystal Bieajag accumulated 38 assists.

The Red Flash has two players posting double-figures in kills with Anne Roosevelt at 13 and Allison Miller at 12.

In Loyola's first game of the day, the Greyhounds fell to Iona, 3-0. Game scores in that match were 30-22, 30-18 and 30-27. Jamie Arndt led her squad against the Gaels with a game-high 11 kills and 15 digs. Snyder and Corb added six kills each. Kristin Allain led Iona with 10 kills.

In their next three games, the Greyhounds will face local opponents Morgan (Sept. 21), UMBC (Sept. 23) and Coppin State (Sept. 28).
