CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Senior outside hitter Mary Hock recorded a match-high 15 kills to lead Winthrop University (7-4) to a three-game sweep over the Greyhound volleyball team (2-10) in the second day of the SpringHill Suites Classic at Halton Arena on Saturday morning.
The Eagles earned their second road win of the season by scores of 30-16, 30-22 and 30-19.
Hock was one of four players to record double-digit kills in the win for Winthrop. Junior middle hitter Tori Grafeman registered 13 kills while Taryn Surbaugh added 11 kills against just one attack error and Siera Reynolds had 10 kills with just two attack errors.
As a team, the Eagles recorded 54 kills against just 11 attack errors for a hitting percentage of .426. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds recorded a .169 hitting percentage with 31 kills against 16 attack errors.
Senior outside hitter Becky Corb tallied a team-high 12 kills for the Greyhounds, marking her fifth-straight double-digit kill performance. She also had six digs.
The Greyhounds conclude play at the SpringHill Suites Classic on Saturday afternoon against Davidson College at 3:00 p.m.
