CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Despite 12 kills and seven digs from senior outside hitter Becky Corb , the Greyhound volleyball team (2-8) suffered its ninth straight road loss in a three-game sweep against Charlotte (3-8) at the SpringHill Suites Classic on Friday afternoon.
The 49ers, who won for the third time in the last five matches, earned the victory by scores of 30-23, 30-21, 30-21.
The Greyhounds, who have not won on the road since the final weekend of last season, have won just two games in their eight road matches this season.
Corb recorded 12 kills against four attack errors to lead Loyola in the loss while sophomore Christina Greenup added 10 kills. The Greyhounds suffered through early attacking problems, recording 23 kills against 13 attack errors.
Alma Arroyo recorded a double-double for Charlotte with a match-high 16 kills along with 11 digs while Carly Romberg added 13 digs. Jessica Oldenburg and Abbey Szlanfucht combined for 27 kills in the victory for Charlotte.
The Greyhounds continue play in the SpringHill Suites Classic on Friday afternoon against North Texas before wrapping up play in the tournament on Saturday against Winthrop and Davidson.
