RICHMOND, VA - Loyola's volleyball team played very well, but ran in to some tough competition this past weekend at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Tournament and fell to UNC-Asheville, Albany, and the host VCU.

Loyola fell to UNC-Asheville on Friday night 3-0, then came back Saturday morning and dropped one to Albany 3-0. While the Greyhounds managed to win their first game of the tournament on Saturday afternoon, Loyola lost its final match to the host Rams by a score of 3-1.

Despite having an 0-11 record now, the squad remains in high spirits according to head coach Jennifer Briggs and assistant Molly McCarthy.

"We felt we really played well this weekend and are getting better with every match," said Briggs. "Facing such strong competition in these early season tournaments will help us greatly when it comes to our MAAC schedule."

Becky Corb and Susanna Leffers led the team in kills while Krystal Biegaj registered 124 assists last week.

Loyola returns to action Tuesday, September 16th at 7 p.m. when the Greyhounds welcome Howards to Reitz Arena for a non-conference match.
