Corb, Greenup Lead Volleyball To Three-Game Sweep Over Howard

BALTIMORE, Md. - Senior outside hitter Becky Corb and sophomore outside hitter Christina Greenup each recorded 11 kills to help the Greyhounds (2-7) snap a three-match losing streak with a three-game sweep over Howard University (0-6) in a non-conference volleyball match at Reitz Arena on Tuesday evening.

The Greyhounds, who are 2-0 at home this season, snapped the losing streak by winning the match with scores of 30-23, 30-17 and 30-17.

Loyola took the first game by a 30-23 margin as the Greyhounds took advantage of five kills by junior Blair Snyder and eight attack errors by the Lady Bison. Howard junior Kimberly Dexter had four of the team's 11 kills in the opening game.

During the second game, Greenup recorded seven of her 11 kills as the Greyhounds hit .353 while holding Howard to a .000 hitting percentage with eight kills against eight attack errors. Ahead by 23-16, Corb served six straight Loyola points, which included three kills by Greenup and a pair of service aces. Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Maxwell had five of the Lady Bison's eight kills in the game, which ended with a 30-17 score.

Loyola jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead in the third game as freshman Marcellee Williams started the rally with a kill and proceeded to serve the next five points. After the Lady Bison cut the deficit to 5-3, the Greyhounds scored seven of the next eight points to take a 12-4 lead they did not relinquish. Loyola took advantage of three Howard attack errors during the run. Corb added four of her 11 kills in the final game, including the match-clinching kill off an assist from Williams.

Corb added a team-high nine digs to go with her 11 kills, while Greenup had four digs. Williams had 29 assists and five digs for the Greyhounds. Maxwell led the Lady Bison in the loss with seven kills and a match-high 10 digs, while junior setter Shannon Grant added a double-double with 16 assists and 10 digs.

The Greyhounds begin a six-match road trip this weekend when they travel to the SpringHill Suites Classic. Meanwhile, the Lady Bison wrap up their seven-match road trip at the South Carolina State SpikeFest.
