Harrisonburg, Va. - The Loyola University Maryland volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday at the JMU Days Inn Invitational. The Greyhounds lost to Lehigh, 3-0, (25-17, 25-18, 25-20) and defeated Delaware State, 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-15, 25-19) in Harrisonburg, Va.
Against the Hornets, Freshman Nicole Sarby led the Greyhounds (5-6 overall) with a double-double of 13 kills and 13 digs. She had a .357 hitting percentage for the match. Senior Nina Camaioni had a double-double with 12 kills and 18 digs.
Sophomore Aubrey Kirven had four kills for a .429 hitting percentage. She also added 46 assists and 11 digs for the match. Kirven was named to the All-Tournament Team for the weekend.
The best hitting percentage for the team came in the fourth set with a .355.
Delaware State was led by Jessica Crougher who had 11 kills with a .478 hitting percentage.
Against Lehigh, Camaioni had 17 kills with a .351 hitting percentage. Kirven had 32 assists and senior Brittany Born had 15 digs for the match.
The best hitting percentage for the team came in the second set, where the Greyhounds hit a .184.
The Greyhounds will compete Wednesday, September 15, at George Washington at 7 p.m. in Washington, D.C., before opening up MAAC play Saturday, September 18, against Fairfield and Sunday, September 19, against Iona. Both games begin at 2 p.m.
