ANNAPOLIS, MD - Loyola's volleyball team played well at this weekend's Navy Tournament, but lost to Navy 3-1, Robert Morris 3-0, and Eastern Kentucky 3-0.
Navy defeated Loyola Friday night by game scores of 30-26, 31-29, 22-30, and 30-23. The Greyhounds received 17 kills and eight digs from sophomore Becky Corb, while freshman Susanna Leffers chipped in with 16 kills and four digs. Krystal Biegaj recorded a match-high 43 assists for Loyola.
On Saturday morning, Loyola fell to Robert Morris 30-20, 30-24, and 30-24. In this outing, the Greyhounds improved their play from one week ago when they faced this same Colonial squad at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Tournament. Corb posted a match-high 14 kills as Leffers added 11.
A quality Eastern Kentucky team handed Loyola its third loss of the tournament Saturday afternoon when the Colonels took down the 'Hounds 30-21, 30-19, and 30-26. Corb posted another match-high with 15 kills, Leffers had 12, while senior Katie Pruitt added five kills as did sophomore Jamie Arndt. Biegaj tallied a match-high 39 assists.
Loyola returns to action Wednesday, September 10th at 7 p.m. for its home-opener when Bucknell comes to Reitz Arena for a non-league matchup.
