SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Despite the third double-double performance of the season by freshman setter Marcellee Williams, the Greyhounds (1-6) dropped their second straight match with a three-game sweep against Cal Poly (6-1) in the Cal Poly/Best Western Royal Oak Invitational at Mott Hall on Saturday morning. The Mustangs won the match by scores of 30-22, 30-14 and 30-19.
Williams registered 20 assists while adding 14 digs in the loss for the Greyhounds, who have yet to win away from Reitz Arena so far this season. Senior outside hitter Becky Corb recorded a team-high 10 kills, but had 10 of the Greyhounds' 28 attack errors in the match as Loyola hit -.009 for the match.
Senior libero Jamie Arndt recorded a match-high 17 digs for the Greyhounds, who held a 47-38 advantage in digs over the host Mustangs.
Vanessa Gilliam recorded a double-double for the Mustangs with a match-high 16 kills and 11 digs while Kristin Jackson added 13 digs. Chelsea Hayes had 29 assists in the win for Cal Poly.
The Greyhounds continue play at the Cal Poly Invitational on Saturday afternoon when they take on the University of Portland before returning home on Tuesday evening to face Howard University at 7:00 p.m.
