STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut hit .361 and sided out at an 83 percent success rate to defeat Loyola University Maryland volleyball, 25-16, 25-11, 25-14 in the opening match of the Dog Pound Challenge.

Four Huskies had nine or more kills, led by 11 each from Danielle Cabel and Kayla Williams. Tosin Adeniyi and Hayley Cmajdalka both recorded nine.

Haley Puddy and Ann Ernst tallied five kills each for the Greyhounds while they had four and two blocks, respectively.

Loyola continues play in the tournament Friday evening with a 5 o’clock match against Saint Francis Brooklyn College.
