Volleyball Falls In Home Opener To LaSalle, 3-1

BALTIMORE, MD - Loyola's volleyball team dropped its home opener and only home match of September to LaSalle by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday night at Reitz Arena before a noisy crowd of 250.Both Games One and Two were tightly contested matches with the Explorers coming out on top in each of them by scores of 30-27 and 32-30, respectively.The Greyhounds, who had their two-match win streak against LaSalle snapped, battled back to defeat the Explorers 30-23 in Game Three. That was Loyola's only victory of the night however, as LaSalle took Game Four 30-21 and the match to remain undefeated at 5-0 on the year.With the loss, the Greyhounds' record drops to 0-4.Loyola was led by junior Jamie Arndt's 15 kills and 21 digs while Becky Corb, Christina Greenup and Blair Snyder each posted 12 kills. Corb also had a team-high 22 digs and Krystal Biegaj led the Greyhounds with 48 assists.Loyola returns to action this weekend when it heads to William and Mary for the William and Mary Tournament. On Friday, the Greyhounds are scheduled to face the host Tribe at 7 p.m. Loyola will then play UMBC at 11 a.m. and Hampton at 4:30 p.m on Saturday.
