BALTIMORE - Dartmouth College and Saint Francis University of Pennsylvania dealt Loyola University Maryland a pair of 3-0 losses on Saturday in the Greyhound Challenge presented by Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys and Hunt Valley Inn.
The Big Green won all three of its matches to claim the tournament crown, while Saint Francis took second with a 2-1 record. Loyola claimed third, and Quinnipiac University was fourth.
Paige Caridi had 13 kills to lead Dartmouth in the morning match, helping the Big Green hit .240 while holding Loyola to a .076 hitting percentage. She was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player for her efforts, while teammates Lottie MacAulay and Emily Astartia each had seven kills and were also named to the All-Tournament Team.
Saint Francis built a 1-0 lead by holding Loyola to a .033 hitting percentage with nine kills and eight errors in the first set, and the Red Flash allowed Loyola to score 20 points in a set just once.
Emily Marcinowski had 14 kills for Saint Francis, earning All-Tournament honors along with setter Alanna Blenkarn who had 30 assists versus the Greyhounds.
Mindy Maloney hit .538 for Loyola against the Red Flash, converting eight kills on 13 swings with just one error. She also had four total blocks and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Greyhounds (1-5 overall) return to action in Reitz Arena on Tuesday night when they host Howard University at 7 p.m.
