HIGH POINT, N.C. - Loyola University Maryland won the opening set of Friday evening's match against High Point University at the HPU Classic sponsored by Hampton Inn, and the Greyhounds led late in the fourth stanza, but the host Panthers rallied for a 21-25, 25-16, 25-19, 26-24 victory.

Danielle Hillman and Haley Puddy locke dup a block for the Greyhounds (1-5) to give Loyola set-point, 24-22, but High Point (4-2) scored four-straight points to secure the match.

Loyola had trailed 22-21 after a Panthers block, but the Greyhounds drew even with a sideout point after a High Point attacking error. Stacey Kazalas then put away her career-high 18th kill of the match, and the Hillman-Puddy block gave Loyola a two-point cushion.

High Point sidedout with a Savannah Angel kill and tied the set at 24-24 on a Loyola hitting miscue. Haley Barnes then had kills on back-to-back points, sealing the Panthers win.

Kazalas had seven of her kills in the fourth set, and she eclipsed her previous career- and season-high by four. She finished with a double-double, posting 11 digs, as well.

Molly Cichosz added 13 kills, and Puddy had six to go with a season-best six total blocks, two solo. Molly Werts passed out 35 assists and had 15 digs, and Anna Eckstein led the Greyhounds with three service aces.

Earlier in the day, Georgia State held Loyola to .132 hitting and attacked at a .326 clip in a three-set win (25-19, 25-14, 25-19). Cichosz had seven kills for Loyola, while Kazalas and Puddy each had six.

Loyola closes its stay at the HPU Classic on Saturday when the Greyhounds face South Carolina State University at 2 p.m.
