Volleyball Drops First Two Matches of the Season to TCU and Texas A&M Corpus-Christi

Fort Worth, Texas - The Loyola College volleyball team dropped its first two matches of the season Friday night with a 3-0 loss to Texas Christian University and Texas A&M Corpus-Christi at TCU's Tournament. The Greyhounds dropped to 0-2 with the day's losses while The Horned Frogs improved to 1-0 with the win over Loyola and Islanders improved to 1-0.

In the first match, Loyola fell to TCU by scores of 30-12, 30-21 and 30-12. In that game sophomore Rachel Schillinger registered a team-high seven kills. Freshman Chrissey Cruz was credited with 11 assists while classmate Kimi Gabriel recorded a team-high 10 digs. For the Horned Frogs, there players registered double-digits in the kill column led by LeMeita Smith with 12. TCU's Nirelle Hampton registered 31 assists while Calli Corley was credited with 13 digs.

Against Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, the Greyhounds fell by scores of 30-22, 30-28 and 30-22. Lone senior Blair Snyder registered a team-high seven kills while sophomore Maddie Fuller recorded five kills and junior Kim Burton and Schillinger each tallied four. Cruz was credited with 23 assists. Two players for the Greyhounds recorded double-digits in digs with Gabriel registering 15 and Cruz registering 11. For the Islanders, Lauren Paslay and Kasey McBrearty each tallied 12 kills. Paula Araujo tallied 35 assists and Laura North registered 20 digs.

The Greyhounds return to action tomorrow when they face South Carolina and Boise State.
