NEW ORLEANS - The Loyola University Maryland women’s track and field team was named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Track and Field All-Academic Team list, marking the fifth-straight year the Greyhounds have been honored as such.
The USTFCCCA honored 224 NCAA Division I women’s teams that had a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
The Greyhounds finished with a team GPA of 3.38 through the 2015 indoor and outdoor seasons. Loyola was one of six Patriot League squads to receive All-Academic Team accolades, including Boston University, Bucknell University, Colgate University, Lafayette College and Lehigh University.
This past spring, rising-senior Sara Gilson was one of 10 Patriot League student-athletes to be named to the Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team. A chemistry major, Gilson carries a 3.980 in the classroom. On the track, she finished 12th at the 2015 Patriot League Indoor Championships, running the mile in a season-best time of 5:32.74.
