BALTIMORE, Md. - Junior Andrea Rovegno of the Greyhound women's track and field team will compete in the NCAA East Regionals meet this weekend, which will be held at Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. The meet will be run on Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27.
Rovegno, who won the MAAC title in the 5000-meter run, will compete in that same event on Friday night beginning at 9:10 p.m. With a time of 17:12.61, she automatically qualified for the regional meet after winning the event at the conference meet three weeks ago.
This will be Rovegno's second straight appearance at the NCAA Regionals. Last year, she ran a time of 17:00.74, which was just over a second off her personal best of 16:59.40.
"Andrea has been building momentum all season and has yet to have her breakthrough race," Coach Julie Culley said. "All the pieces of her training are in place and we're looking for her to execute on Friday."
