Boston, Mass. - Loyola women's track head coach Jackie Truncellito competed in the 113th Boston Marathon on Monday. The 26.2-mile race is held every year on Patriot's Day in Boston, Mass. and attracts about 20,000 registered runners.
Coach Truncellito finished the marathon in 2:58.49, pacing herself to 6:50 per mile. She placed 59th in the women's division and finished 1,184 overall.
Truncellito ran to support the Baltimore chapter of the Back On My Feet organization. This non-profit organization aims to promote the self-sufficiency of the local homeless population by engaging them in running as a means to build confidence, strength and self-esteem.
