Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola women's track team will travel to Bucknell University tonight for the Elite Distance Carnival under the lights at Christy Mathewson Stadium. The race kicks off a weekend for the track program, which concludes on Saturday afternoon at Rider.
First up for the 'Hounds will be Freshman Kate Cervo and Junior Alex Salani in the No. 2 section of the women's 5000 meters. Following them will be unattached men's cross country runners Keith Forlenza and Dan McDevitt in the No. 2 section of the men's 5000 meters.
Taking center stage will be junior Chris Heibell, another unattached men's runner, who will be racing in the Invitational 1500m. The race is expected to go at an NCAA Qualifying pace and Heibell is looking to take his second school record in as many weeks. He took his own 5,000m record last Friday night with an IC4A qualifying time of 14:34 at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton.
Junior Maureen Wynne will then take to the track for the seeded section of the Women's 5,000m. Wynne was the MAAC Indoor Runner-Up in the event in a school record time of 18:11. She will look to take down her personal best outdoor time of 17:53.93 set last year at the Duke Invitational.
Finishing up the night will be seniors Gian Caccia and Brian Parker taking to the track in the Invitational Men's 5,000m. Both seniors will be looking to crack the 14:50 barrier for the first time.
The rest of Loyola's team will take to the track Saturday morning at the Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, N.J.
