Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola women's track and fIeld team opens its outdoor season at Towson University this Saturday, March 24th. All events take place inside Johnny Unitas Stadium with the first event beginning at 10:45 a.m.
Some of the highlights will include the women's 1500m which will pit several top notch competitors against Loyola's own school record holder Andrea Rovegno and sophomore standout Maureen Wynne. Set to go against them include three Division III NCAA Mile Finalists.
The Loyola super freshmen sprint class will try to notch its first win of the season in the 4x100 relay with the team of Lisa Edwards, Paige Thomas, Eve Mizerak and Ashley Kennedy set to take on all challenges.
Other events to watch are the 400m hurdles which should put Thomas and Kennedy in their first long hurdle race of the season. Both are expected to challenge for the win. The 800m should also be a quality event for the 'Hounds as Rovegno and Wynne will both double back and will be joined by Freshman Courtney McNamara and Sophomore Kelly Wolf near the front of the pack.
The last event of the day the 4x400 should also be a strength as the Hound team of Thomas, Edwards, Mizerak and Freshman Amanda Reid fresh off a 3rd place finish in the MAAC Championship will reunite to try to take the title here.
