The Loyola track & field team opens its outdoor season this weekend when they travel to the United States Naval Academy for the Navy Invitational. The pod meet will consist of four local teams, the Greyhounds, Midshipmen, American and Maryland.
The high jump and long jump competitions will coincide with the shot put. School-record holder Kim Amaducci will compete in the high jump, as will Alyssa Harrison and Lauren Chiaravalloti. Claire Okrongly, Marci Baileys and Lauryn Granara are entered in the long jump.
Finishing off the field events are the triple jump, pole vault, javelin and discus at 2:00 pm. Okrongly and Baileys are penciled in for the triple jump. School-record holder Noreen Petrash and Kelsey Powell will compete in the pole vault and Diamond and Trainer in the discus.
Opening the track events is the 3000 Steeplechase, but Loyola does not have any competitors in events longer than 1500m.
Loyola has a pair on entries in the 4x400 relay to open the track session. Casey Carey, Baileys, Rosemary Yardley and Kristina Krupa are on the `A' team and Alyssa Doyle, Audrey McGonigle, Margaret Larkin and Kelsey Burke are on the `B' team.
At approximately 2:50 pm, the 800m dash will kick off with Larkin and McGonigle penciled in.
Ten minutes later, the 400m hurdles will commence, with Courtney Marro, Burke, Okrongly and Carey entered for Loyola.
The final event for Loyola on the day will be the 200m dash. Along with Gibbs, Godfrey and Granara will be Krupa, Westley, Trainer, Amaducci, Petrash and Powell.
Following the Navy Invite, Loyola will compete at the Towson Invitational the following weekend on March 27. On April 9, Loyola will co-host the Baltimore Metro Invitational.
