Jan. 24, 2008

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola women's track and field team travels north to Lewisburg, Pa. for the 10th Annual Bison Open this Friday and Saturday. The track meet, hosted by Bucknell Univeristy, splits competition over two days with a majority of the distance and relay events taking place on Saturday.

On Friday night, Loyola's Distance Medley Relay consisting of freshman Lindsay Wilson and Megan Harpe with seniors Caroline Scott and Andrea Rovegno, will commence the competition at 4:30 p.m. The squad will be chasing the ECAC Championship standard of 12:08.65. No Loyola relay team has ever qualified for the ECAC Championships.

Wilson and Rovegno ran earlier this year on the Loyola team that set the current school mark in the distance medley relay of 12:41.25.

Also competing on Friday night will be senior Beth Gentry in the 5000m run, while on Saturday the rest of the Greyhound team will join them in Lewisburg where Loyola should feature prominently in the women's mile with Wilson and junior Maureen Wynne taking center stage.

The 500m will also be a big event for the `Hounds as Harpe and fellow frosh Angeline Diamond chase the Loyola record of 1:21.84 set earlier this year.

Saturday's meet begins at 11:00am.
