Rookie Etches Name In Record Books At First Indoor Meet Of 2014-15

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Freshman Sarah Bronk highlighted the day's events as the Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team opened the 2014-15 indoor season at the Fast Times Before Finals meet Saturday afternoon.

Bronk took seventh in the pole vault, and tied a program-best height of 9' 6.25".

Senior Jenna Smith and freshman Olivia O'Hara also competed in the field events, taking 10th and 13th, respectively, in the triple jump. Smith recorded a mark of 32' 3.50", while O'Hara set a mark of 31' 6.50".

On the track, Claire Scavone recorded the Greyhounds' top finish, taking 13th in the 200m with a time of 27.46. Eilis McGovern finished the same event 19th in 27.75. Freshmen Victoria Henry (26th, 28.12), Anna Verrichia (33rd, 28.84) Caroline Elmore (35th, 29.06) and Delia Oldak (42nd, 29.72) made their collegiate debut in the 200m. Isabela Ugarte (37th, 29.36), Maria Hacker (40th, 29.49), Kelly Hilbert (45th, 30.06) and Emma Mascoli (46th, 31.33) also competed in the 200m season opener.

In the 60m hurdles, Henry guided the Greyhounds with a 16th-place finish posting a final time of 9.83. Waldeck finished right behind her classmate, taking 17th in 10.00. Hilbert took 21st in 10.84 and Mascoli 23rd in 11.55.

Jessa Laspesa, McGovern, Brianna Nelson and Charlotte Criqui took eighth in the 4x400m relay, clocking a time of 4:11.66. Ugarte, Scavone, Bronk and Dunleavy finished 11th in 4:16.53.

Due to a starting error by meet management, the 500m results were not officially recorded.

Loyola returns to action at the first of the year, competing at the Army Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 10, in West Point, New York.
