Women's Track Opens Indoor Season At Bucknell

Dec. 2, 2006

Lewisburg, Pa. - The Loyola women's track team opened its indoor season at the Bison Opener in Lewsiburg, Pa. on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds, who ran 12 freshmen in the meet, set one school record and achieved several personal bests.

"This was the first college meet for our girls," says Loyola Head Coach Brett Harvey. "We ran good, but nervous. It was a good meet for us to get our feet wet in - and I think our freshmen realized that Division I track is a much higher level than high school."

Freshman Eve Mizerak broke the school record for the Indoor 200-meter event with a time of 28.62 to highlight the meet for the `Hounds.

The 800-meter race saw two Greyhounds place in the Top-20 with freshmen Paige Thomas and Amanda Reid running personal bests en route to 15th-place and 17th-place respectively. Thomas finished in 2:27 while Reid ran a 2:32.

Loyola returns to indoor track action on January 13 when it travels to Annapolis for the Navy Lidlifter.
