LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Erica Canas ran an ECAC-qualifying time of 37:22.43 to take seventh in the 10,000m, collecting two teams points to lead the Loyola University Maryland women's track team at the first day of the Patriot League Outdoor Track Championship at Bucknell's Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
The Greyhounds sit in ninth place with Canas' effort, while host Bucknell leads the way with 85.5 points. Lehigh and Navy round out the top three with 49.50 and 30.5 points, respectively.
Despite not qualifying for the 100m semifinals, junior Claire Scavone and sophomore Daniella Joyce set personal records in the preliminary heats. Scavone crossed the line in 12.84, while Joyce came in at 13.16.
Later in the afternoon, freshman Anne Lauder set a PR in the prelims of the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.92, while junior Jessa Laspesa ran the 200m with a personal-best time of 26.02.
Loyola returns to action Saturday to complete the final day of competition at the Patriot League Outdoor Track Championship. Senior Sara Gilson and freshmen Mary Sutton and Courtney Wallace will kickoff events at noon, running the 3,000m steeplechase.
