Women's Track Holds Third After Day One Of MAAC Championships

Lawrenceville, N.J. - The Loyola women's track team earned 25 points on Day One of the MAAC Championships in Lawrenceville, N.J. and sit in third place heading into Sunday's final day of competition.

The Greyhounds earned all 25 points in two events - the 10,000-meter run and the javelin. In the 10k, senior Andrea Rovegno led a 2-3 Loyola finish with a time of 39:18.84. Sophomore Maureen Wynne placed third with a time of 39:19.07.

In the javelin, senior Carolyn Kennington followed up last week's win in the event with a third-place finish and a throw of 37.12 meters. Sophomore Melanie Mitchell finished fourth in the javelin with a toss of 34.18 meters.

Host Rider leads the field, while Manhattan is second halfway through the championship events. The Greyhounds resume action on Sunday at noon.
