Several Greyhounds Set New PRs To Wrap Up Outdoor Season At MAAC Championships

Lawrenceville, N.J. - Loyola women's track and field team ended the outdoor season with a sixth-place finish in the 2009 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships at Rider University. The Greyhounds had strong performances in distance and hurdle events, despite bad weather conditions on Day Two.

Sophomore Alyssa Doyle led all Greyhounds in the 1,500 Meter Run, finishing at 4:58.61 to set a new collegiate PR. Freshman Emily Doucette also competed in section one and finished at 4:59.38.

Continuing with distance events, senior Maureen Wynne and sophomore Kate Cervo represented Loyola in the 5,000 Meter Run. Wynne took the fifth spot with a time of 17:58.45 and Cervo followed in sixth at 18:26.45. Together they added seven points to the Loyola total.

Freshman Angeline Diamond ran a fast 13.75 for a personal-best in the 100 Meter Dash. Teammates Paige Godfrey and Brittany Goodby also competed in the same section and clocked it at 13.95 and 14.09, respectively.

The Greyhounds also saw success in Hurdles. Freshman Samantha Westley recorded a season PR in the 100 Meter event, finishing in 16.58 for the number one spot in section two.

Nicole Gilhuley and Casey Carey took fourth and fifth place in the 400 Meter Hurdles. Gilhuley finished in 1:11.11, good for five points and Carey crossed the line in 1:11.31, good for four points.
