Relay Team Breaks School Record At Patriot League Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. - On the final day of the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Army West Point's Shea Stadium, the 4x400m relay team broke a school record to guide the Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team to a ninth-place finish tied with American University.

Sophomore Jessa Laspesa, seniors Charlotte Criqui and Eilis McGovern, along with freshman Emma Dunleavy combined for a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 with a time of 3:55.44. The quartet's topped their previous program record set last month at the Colonial Relays.

To start the day's events, sophomore Claire Scavone, Laspesa, McGovern and junior Eileen Pastyrnak took seventh in the 4x100 with a time of 49.47. The Greyhounds contributed two of the team's seven points.

Senior Kelly Maguire posted the highest individual finish Saturday afternoon, taking 12th in the 800m run with a time of 2:18.30.

Two Greyhounds set personal records in their individual races, including freshman Jane Butler in the 400m dash (25th, 1:02.76) and sophomore Sarah Askine in the 1500m (18th, 4:46.99).

Bucknell University took first with 165 points, while Boston University (149 points) and host Army West Point (122.5) took second and third, respectively.
