Two School-Records Broken at Day 1 of MAAC Championships

Lawrenceville, N.J. - Stephanie Gibney broke a Loyola-record in the 3,000m Steeplechase and the 4x800m Relay team did the same at the first day of the MAAC Outdoor track & Field Championships. Loyola is is fifth place after day one of competition.

Gibney finished second in the event, clocking in at 11:37.69 which broke her old school-record by two tenths of a second that she set earlier this year.

Jackie D'Antonio ran the first leg of the 4x800m relay and was followed by Brittney Gibbons, Alyssa Doyle and Emily Doucette to clock in at 9:23.74. The Greyhounds finished fourth in the event, just behind Rider, but shattered the old school-mark by over 13 seconds.

Kate Cervo finished fourth in the 10,000m for the Greyhounds, clocking in at 43:18.65.

Lauryn Granara took eighth in the long jump with a 4.54m effort.

Angeline Diamond threw a season-high 22.07m in the hammer throw, while Lauren Chiaravalloti set a season-high with an 18.60 toss in the javelin.

The second and final day of the MAAC Championships will begin Sunday, May 2 at 11:00 am.
