Lions Invitational Productive For Track & Field

EWING, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland's track and field team capped a good weekend of competition with several solid times and performances at The College of New Jersey's Lions Invitational on Saturday.

Courtney Marro continued her solid 200-meter times by finishing 15th out of 45 runners at the meet. On Friday, she led off the women's 4x200-meter relay team at the Penn Relays with a personal-best split, and Saturday she clocked a time of 26.99, just off her best. Chika Dunga was close behind her in 18th place with a time of 27.30.

Kristina Krupa led a trio of Loyola sprinters who finished in the top of half of 33 runners in the 400 meters. Krupa ran 60.70 to finish place 11th, while Marissa Buccellato was 14th (61.80), and Dunga took 16th (62.12).

Gabrielle Cocco placed 12th out of 39 in the 800 meters, running 2:23.90, while Marissa Galante was 10th out of 51 in the 1,500 meters in 4:51.42.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Buccellato, Megan Trainer, Jacqueline Porter and Krupa won its heat and finished third overall in 4:10.91.

Courtney Willeford notched a seventh-place finish out of 30 javelin competitors with a throw of 113'11".

The Greyhounds are back in New Jersey next weekend when they travel to Lawrenceville for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships that will be hosted by Rider. Competition starts on Saturday and runs through Sunday.
