Hurdles, Distance Events Hightlight Lions Invitational

Loyola's track team competed in the Lions Invitational at the College of New Jersey on Saturday and had success in both hurdles and distance events, despite the warm temperatures.

Casey Carey competed in the 400 Meter Hurdles event and crossed the finish line at 1:09.86.

Several Greyhounds ran in the 1,500 Meter Run and recorded improved times. Alyssa Doyle led the pack, coming in at 5:02.90. Kate Cervo followed close behind at 5:02.93, as did Sara Ochs at 5:04.83.

Senior Alex Salani barely missed a new PR in the 5,000 Meter Run, although she did finish in second place at 18:48.09.

In sprint events, Kristina Krupa earned a sixth-place finish in the 400 Meter Dash at 1:01.26. The 4x100 Relay Team ran a season-best 52.07.

Nicole Gilhuley competed in a separate event, the Paul Kaiser Track and Field Classic at Shippensburg University. She set a new personal-best time in the 400 Meter Hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:10.64.

The team now prepares for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, May 2-3 at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J. MAAC Championship Schedule of Events.
