Rovegno Finishes Second In 800, Sets New School Record

Chester, Pa. - Andrea Rovegno set a new school record in the 800-meter run with her time of 2:21.04 while Suzanne Mufareh set a new school record in the shot put with her toss of 9.52 meters in leading Loyola's track team to a very successful weekend at the Widener Invitational.

Rovegno also took second place in the 1500 with her time of 4:38. Senior teammate Jackie Truncellito placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run with her season-best time of 18:06.

Alison Riley ran an 800-meter personal best en route to winning Heat 2 with her time of 2:33 as Sarah Spencer and Bethany Gentry clocked personal bests in the 1500 with times of 5:01.54 and 5:17.23, respectively.

Gentry also ran a solid 800-meter race with a time of 2:36, Shannon Gillespie ran a 2:40 800m, Bridget Scanlan ran a 400-meter time of 1:05.81, and Amanda Nehring ran the 400 in 1:06.61.

Erica Granera won her 200-meter heat with a time of 29.40 as Nehring ran the 200 in 29.34.

Carolyn Kennington threw a season's best javelin mark of 33.68 meters (110'6").

"Today was an exciting day for our program with lots of all-time personal records and several meet records broken," said Loyola Head Coach Julie Culley. "I am so proud of their efforts, the drops in times and further distances in the throws are what these girls have been working so hard for."
