PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior Jackie D'Antonio set a personal record in the 1,500m, as a select group of the Loyola University Maryland women’s track and field team travelled to the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University.
The Greyhounds sent three runners, including D’Antonio who recorded a repeat performance from last season. For the second-consecutive year at Princeton, the senior mid-distance runner recorded a PR of 4:39.28. D’Antonio shaved 43-seconds off last year’s record of 4:39.71, good enough for a finish in the top-30.
“I’m happy with Jackie’s performance,” said head coach Amy Horst. “I’m thrilled with her progress.”
Teammates Kiera Harrison and Anna Bosse also competed Friday evening, both running in the 5,000m event. Harrison finished within the top-50, recording a time of 17:54.13, while Bosse crossed the finish line at 18:40.97.
“I’m pleased with our performance in the 5,000m events, considering we faced a few challenges off the track,” Horst said. “I’m looking forward to Jacqueline Porter and Kelly Maguire competing tomorrow. It is always good to gain experience this time during the season.”
Porter will compete in the 400m hurdles, an event which she recorded a program record in last week at the Loyola-Hopkins Invite. Maguire will race in the 800m, an event all to familiar, after taking first in the 4x800m last weekend in Baltimore.
