BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland track and field team co-hosted the Loyola/Hopkins Invitational, taking seventh out of 17 teams Saturday afternoon.
Co-host Johns Hopkins finished first with 133 points, while Ramapo (111.5 points) and Salisbury (93.5) finished second and third, respectively. The Greyhounds totaled 53 points.
Loyola compiled the most team points in the 200m dash. The Greyhounds totaled 19.5 of the 39 total event points. Sophomore Jessa Laspesa led the pack, placing third in 26.85. Sophomore Claire Scavone took fourth in 27.08, while freshman Emma Dunleavy and junior Rebekah Rogerson finished tied for fifth (27.13) and eighth (27.30), respectively.
Continuing in the mid-distance events, senior Kelly Maguire competed in the 800m race, crossing the finish line in 2:19.18 (2nd).
Senior Anna Bosse took eighth in the 1500m run with a time of 4:52.94.
In the sprint events, Eileen Pastyrnak finished fifth in the 100m dash. The junior crossed the tape in 12.94.
Hurdler Eilis McGovern added five team points, taking fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.89.
Loyola's 4x100m relay team finished second with a time of 49.96 and the 4x400m squad took seventh in 4:13.77.
Off the track, rookies Olivia O'Hara and Sarah Bronk contributed team points in the triple jump and pole vault, respectively. O'Hara tied for fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 32ft-8.5in (9.97m), while Bronk set a seventh-place mark of 9ft-6.25in (2.9m) in the pole vault.
Loyola returns to action on Saturday when it travels down Cold Spring Lane for the Morgan State Invitational.
