DURHAM, N.C. - Junior Andrea Rovegno qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 5000-meter run as the Greyhounds competed in the Duke University Invitational at Wallace-Wade Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
"It was a great field to size some of our athletes up in," Coach Julie Culley said. "They are getting more used to bigger competition which is a very good thing."
Rovegno finished in 16th place with a time of 17:29.49 to pace the Greyhounds. Meanwhile, freshman Maureen Wynne led Loyola in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:08.95 and Michelle McVann followed, completing the race in 5:10.57. Freshman Kelly Wolf turned in a time of 2:25.20 in the 800-meter run, finishing in 50th place. "Our 800m and 1500m girls were consistent, but I still feel we have some hard work to put in for the next two weeks in preparation for the end of the season," Culley said.
The Greyhounds continue their season in two weeks at the Widener Invitational.
