April 4, 2009

Durham, N.C. - Loyola's showing in Day Two of competition at the Duke Invitational was centered on several season-best finishes in both track and field events.

Starting with the 4x100 Meter Relay, the team of Brittany McDonald, Paige Godfrey, Brittany Goodby and Kristina Krupa finished in 52.90 to record the season-best finish in the event. Their time shaved 0.27 seconds off the performance at Towson last weekend.

The 4x400 Meter Relay had similar results and finished at 4:13.12 to record a season-best time for both indoor and outdoor meets. The foursome included Casey Carey, Krupa, Emily Doucette and Melanie Mitchell.

Doucette also competed in the 800 Meter Run and recorded her best time this season with a 2:22.62.

Mitchell led the team in field events and threw 34.34 meters in the Javelin Throw to record her best mark this season. She also competed in the Long Jump and landed at 4.82 meters.

The Greyhounds now take a short break before competing in the Baltimore Metro meet on Wednesday. This will be Loyola's first ever home meet and will take place at the new track located on the Johns Hopkins University campus. A dedication ceremony will open the meet at 2:00 p.m. linking both Loyola and Hopkins to the new track. The meet will officially start around 3:00 p.m.
