School Record And Top Finish Highlight Women's Track Competition At Towson Invitational

Towson, Md. - The Greyhound track team scored a second place victory in the 4x800 Meter Relay and senior Melanie Mitchell topped her own record in the long jump in competition at the Towson Invitation on Saturday.

Mitchell marked a 5.03 meter jump in the Long Jump, breaking her own school record by 0.29 meters. She also threw 10.00 meters in the Shot Put and 31.95 meters in the Javelin Throw.

The relay team of freshmen Emily Doucette, Brittney Gibbons, sophomore Sara Ochs and senior Nicole Gilhuley finished at 10:18.29 in the 4x800 Relay for the number two spot.

Doucette and Gibbons also competed in the 1,500 Meter Run and crossed the finish line at 4:53.91 and 4:57.40, respectively. Ochs ran in the 800 Meter Run and finished with a time of 2:37.19 and Gihuley competed in the 400 Meter Hurdles and finished at 1:21.38

Five Loyola sprinters ran in the 200 Meter Dash and freshman Kristina Krupa finished with the fastest time of 28.23. Sophomore Paige Godfrey followed at 28.84, junior Brittany Goodby at 29.11, senior Brittany McDonald at 29.65 and junior Kim Amaducci at 29.78.

Amaducci also participated in field event and cleared 1.47 meters in the women's high jump.

Loyola will now prepare for the Duke Invitational coming up next Friday and Saturday in Durham, N.C.
