ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Alessandra Piscitelli and Jenna Smith broke two Loyola University Maryland women's track and field program records Saturday, to help the Greyhounds to a sixth-place team finish at the Spring Invitational hosted by the United States Naval Academy.

Piscitelli had a mark of 36.77m in the hammer throw to pass her previous record set last year of 35.48m. The junior finished eighth and contributed one of the Greyhounds' 13.5 total team points.  

Smith bypassed current teammate Emma Mascoli for the newest triple jump record, posting a distance of 10.42m. The Havertown, Pa., native finished the day's event eighth, setting a new PR for her career.

Fellow field competitor Isabela Ugarte also finished eighth, setting a mark of 4.69m in the long jump. Teammate Amy Macchiaverna tied for sixth (1.5m) in the high jump, rounding out the field scorers for Loyola.

On the track, senior Jacqueline Porter contributed the most individual points to the team total, two, taking seventh with a time of 16.48, in the 100m hurdles. Freshman Claire Scavone was the final individual point-provider, adding one point for an eighth-place finish in the 400m. The rookie Greyhound clocked a time of 1:00.66.

Loyola's 4x400m squad of Charlotte Criqui, Lisa Potter, Jessa Laspesa and Claire Scavone finished above all other Patriot League teams. The Greyhounds took fifth with a time of 4:09.13, adding the final five points to the team total. 

Meet host Navy claimed the team title, tallying 315 points. Delaware (250.5), Maryland-Eastern Shore (87) and the University of Maryland (46) finished second, third and fourth, respectively. Fellow Patriot League rival American University (18) finished fifth, followed by Loyola (13.5) and Delaware State (4).

The Greyhounds return to action on Saturday, March 29, competing in the Maryland Invitational from College Park, Md.
