Distance Runners Lead Women's Track At Towson

March 22, 2008

Towson, Md. - Junior Maureen Wynne and senior Bethany Gentry each posted third-place finishes at the Towson Invitational to lead a solid Loyola effort in its outdoor opener. Both runners posted personal best times in their respective events for the Greyhounds.

Wynne took third in the 10,000-meter race with a time of 38:17. The finish shaved a full minute of her personal best and is good enough for the second-fastest time in Loyola history in the event.

Gentry's third-place finish came in the 5,000-meters, where she ran a time of 19:36. The finish was also her first-ever third-place finish in the event as a collegiate.

Highlighting the sprint events for Loyola, freshman Courtney Marro reached the finals of the 100m with a time of 14.1.

In addition to the women, men's cross country runner Chris Heibell ran unattached and took first in the 1,500-meters. It is his second straight victory in the event at Towson.
