New York, N.Y. - Freshmen led the way for Loyola at the Indoor MAAC Track and Field Championships at the Armory in New York City late Friday night. The Greyhounds placed fifth overall while Rider won the meet with 195 points.
Freshman Lisa Edwards led Loyola in the first event of the day, placing second in the 55-meter dash final. Edwards, who finished six-one-hundreds of a second out of first place, was one of three Greyhounds to score in the final. Freshmen Eve Mizerak (7.60) and Ashley Kennedy (7.80) placed third and seventh respectively.
Freshman Paige Thomas kept the Greyhounds scoring going in the 200-meters with a sixth-place finish and a time of 26.97. Thomas then took third in the 400-meters (59.61), while teammate Mizerak finished fourth in 59.94.
Another freshman who scored in multiple events was Ashley Kennedy, who took fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (to along with her seventh-place showing in the 55-meter dash), fourth in the long jump (16-10.75) and eighth in the triple jump (34-10.25). Also in the jumps, freshman Kim Amaducci placed sixth in the high jump, clearing 4-11.
In the distance events, the Greyhounds were led by sophomore Maureen Wynne, who finished fourth in the 3,000-meters in 10:31.87. Wynne also took sixth in the Mile Run (5:19.16), while senior Colleen Depman ran a time of 18:57.90 in the 5,000-meters to place seventh for the Greyhounds.
