ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Loyola University Maryland women's track and field closed out the 2015 indoor regular season on Thursday afternoon at the United States Naval Academy's Sweetheart Multi-Madness Meet.
The Greyhounds tied for third overall and compiled 29 points throughout the afternoon. The University of Maryland took first with 201 points, while host Navy finished second with 167 points. Loyola tied with Johns Hopkins University, while the duo finished ahead of McDaniel College (15 points), Shenandoah (14), Bridgewater College (3) and Towson University (2).
Claire Scavone, Eilis McGovern, Charlotte Criqui and Kelly Maguire took second in the sprint medley relay and set a program record with a time of 4:11.15. The quartet of Greyhounds shattered the previous record of 4:20.07 set by Marissa Buccellato, Kristina Krupa, Megan Trainer and Jackie D'Antonio in 2012.
For the second-straight meet, freshman Sarah Bronk bested the previous school record in the pole vault, setting a mark of 10'4", and amassed her previous record set two weeks ago at the Lehigh Covert Classic (9'8").
Back on the track, senior Anna Bosse finished second in the mile, setting a personal record of 5:10.87. The senior distance runner contributed eight points to the team total, while sophomore Sarah Askine finished sixth and added three team points with a career-best time of 5:17.19.
Rookie Olivia Sbrocco also set a PR Thursday afternoon, contributing one point after an eighth-place finish in the 3,000m. The freshman distance runner crossed the finish line in 11:19.39.
Junior Eileen Pastyrnak added Loyola's final team point in the 60m dash, finishing eighth in 8.30.
The Greyhounds return to Annapolis on Saturday, Feb. 21, to compete in the 2015 Patriot League Indoor Championships hosted by Navy.
