Women's Track And Field Sets New Program Record In 4x400m

Armory Track Invitational Results l Covert Classic 

NEW YORK CITY - The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team split the day competing at The Armory Track Invitational and the Covert Classic hosted by fellow Patriot League competitor Lehigh University.

The day's events were highlighted in New York City, as Jessa Laspesa, Charlotte Criqui, Eilis McGovern and Emma Dunleavy broke Loyola's program record in the 4x400m relay. The quartet recorded a time of 4:00.86, shattering the previous record of 4:05.50, set by Lisa Potter, Laspesa, Jacqueline Porter and Claire Scavone in 2014.

Earlier in the day, senior Kelly Maguire ran in the 800m race and finished 46th in 2:22.38, while sophomore Sarah Askine took 47th in the mile with a personal record of 5:27.20.

Meanwhile at the John Covert Classic, Scavone led the Greyhounds with an 11th-place finish in the 400m. The mid-distance runner finished with a time of 1:02.46, while teammates Jenna Smith (23rd, 1:05.34) and Delia Oldak (32nd, 1:08.11) also competed in the event.

Junior Kayla Parlavecchio took 14th in the 800m, crossing the finish line in with a personal record of 2:33.61. Rookie Jane Butler finished just inside the top-20, taking 19th in 2:36.34. Sophomores Ciatlyn McGuinness (22nd, 2:38.05), Daniella Joyce (23rd, 2:38.32) and Julianne Groshon (28th, 2:39.96) also competed in the same event.

Sprinter Victoria Henry finished 19th in the 60m, recording a personal-best time of 8.31. Classmate and fellow rookie Caroline Elmore took 24th with a PR of 8.42, while senior Maria Hacker crossed the finish line in 8.83 (29th).

Freshman Olivia Sbrocco guided Loyola's distance runners with an 18th-place finish in the 3,000m. The rookie set a personal record in 11:35.73. Teammates Amanda Spaeth and Mary DeGregorio finished 20th and 26th, respectively. Spaeth recorded a PR of 11:39.74, while DeGregorio came in at 11:59.85.

Off the field, Sarah Bronk took 17th in the pole vault, recording a mark of 9' 8", while Smith (20th, 31' 10"), Olivia O'Hara (21st, 31' 9.25") and Elmore (24th, 31' 0") competed in the triple jump.

The Greyhounds return to action on Thursday, Feb. 12 at the United States Naval Academy Multi-Mix Invite, before returning to Navy one week later for the Patriot League Indoor Championships in Annapolis, Maryland.
