Lewisburg, Pa. - The Loyola women's track team concluded competition at the Bison Open in Lewisburg, Pa. on Saturday with measurable success in the Mile Run. The Greyhounds, paced by freshman Lindsay Wilson, placed three in the top 11 spots of the event.
Wilson clocked a 5:16.64 to take third overall. She was followed by teammate Maureen Wynne, who posted a time of 5:22.74 en route to a ninth-place showing. Freshman Kate Cervo followed with a time of 5:23.82, placing 11th in the race.
"I was very happy with the way we raced in the Mile," said Head Coach Brett Harvey. "Our freshmen are improving each meet, while Maureen [Wynne] ran well after taking some time off with Loyola's study abroad program."
Wynne also ran a 2:30 in the 800m to place 16th overall, while Cervo took 18th in 2:31.
"We raced a lot better than last week at College Park," added Harvey. "It was nice to see the team take a big step forward."
The Greyhounds will rest up next weekend and head to the Armory in New York City for the New Balance Games on February 8.
