Westley Breaks School Record at Maryland Terrapin Invitational, Qualifies for ECACs

Landover, Md. - Sophomore Lauren Chiaravalloti and freshman Alyssa Harrison both cleared the foot-foot mark in the high jump for the first time in their careers.  Kim Amaducci tied their marks with a 5'0 1/4" jump as well.  As a team, without any throwers, Loyola placed 11th of 13 teams at the Terrapin Invitational at the PG County Sports and Learning Center Fieldhouse.

The distance medley relay team of Emily Doucette, Kristina Krupa, Brittney Gibbons and Colleen Kinealy (5:19 mile) placed sixth overall in 12:53.5, earning three points for the team.

Calli Pappas ran a 5:34.73 in the mile, completing an all-around race in sixth place, also garnering three points for the team.

The 4x400 medley relay team also won their heat in 4:16.7. Lauryn Granara got the Hounds off quickly, taking the early lead. Marci Baileys competed in the second leg, holding onto the lead, while Casey Carey extended it in the third leg. Kristina Krupa ran the anchor leg for Loyola, and held off the anchor from the host Terrapins to preserve the victory.

Granara also competed in the 60m dash and advanced to the finals, finishing tenth in 8.21. 

The Greyhounds also got great performances in the 3,000m (3k) out of Amanda Bossi (6th, 10:38.26), Stephanie Gibney (8th, 10:38.91) and Kate Cervo (14th, 11:02.27).

Loyola is back on the track in two weeks when they travel to nearby Newark, Del., to compete in the Thomson Invitational on Saturday, January 30.
