New York, N.Y. - The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team competed at the New York City Gotham Cup on Friday at The Armory Track and Field Center in Manhattan. Sophomore trio led the way with Top 10 finishes in their respective events.
Sophomore Marci Baileys finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 33-1 1/2 and had a mark of 14-11 1/4 in the triple jump to finish 22nd. Sophomore Jackie D'Antonio was sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.22 and sophomore Kiera Harrison finished seventh in the mile with a time of 5:22.01.
Junior Emily Doucette was 13th in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:08.10. She holds the school record set last season with a time of 3:08.07.
Freshman Victoria Szczawinski was 15th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:27.94 and freshman Marissa Galante finished 15th in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:08.97.
In the 3,000 meters, junior Stephanie Gibney was 17th with a time of 10:46.92 and senior Amanda Bossi had a time of 10:47.51 to finish 18th.
Other finishers at the meet were, Chika Dunga (60m, 8.49), Courtney Willeford (60m, 8.64), Angeline Diamond (60m, 8.80), Paige Godfrey (60m, 8.84), Jacqueline Porter (500m, 1:27.95), Brianne Vozzella (800m, 2:30.53), Katie Laffey (800m, 2:41.52 and 1,000m, 2:41.52), Margaret Larkin (mile, 6:03.33), Samantha Westley (60m-hurdles, 9.78), Kelsey Burke (LJ, 14-4 1/2 and TJ, 31-5 1/4) and Claire Okrongly (TJ, 31-0).
The Greyhounds will be back in action Saturday, January 22 at the Princeton Relays in Princeton, N.J.
