Baltimore, Md. - Andrea Rovegno cruised to a time of 10:31 for an easy win in the 3,000 meter run to highlight Loyola's inaugural indoor track meet on Saturday afternoon at the Navy Invitational.
Rovegno, who was running in her first-ever 3,000-meter race, defeated the second-place finisher by more than 30 seconds. Sarah Spencer ran a time of 11:13 en route to a fifth-place finish in the 3,000.
Jackie Truncellito also performed well for the Greyhounds as she clocked a time of 19:00 in the 5,000-meter run to take third place. Angela Penrice (20:09) recorded a new personal best by more than a minute in the 5K to take eighth place.
Colleen Depman ran an impressive 1,600-meter time of 5:41 in finishing first in her heat and seventh overall while the distance medley relay team combined to run a time of 13:41 and take home a fourth-place finish.
"We had a great showing, considering it was our inaugural meet and the competition was so tough," said Loyola Head Coach Julie Culley. "We are really proud of some of the times and marks that were reached this early in the season and we're very hopeful that we'll improve on these solid showings in the meets to come."
Culley added that many of the Greyhounds were forced to compete in two and three events. Below is a list of the other Loyola athletes that competed on this momentus day:
