Baltimore, Md. - Senior Scott Gannon and sophomore Stephanie Dunn were named the MAAC Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for their performance during the opening week of spring competition. The Greyhounds, who went 2-1 last week, sweep the weekly awards for the first time.
Gannon, a senior from Chatham, N.J., went 3-0 at No. 1 singles last week, helping the Greyhounds to a 2-1 record in dual-meet matches. Gannon earned straight set victories over Morgan State and UMES, and a three-set win over Mount St. Mary's last week. He also teamed up with fellow co-captain Ben Epstein to win at No. 1 doubles against UMES.
Dunn, a sophomore from Media, Pa., went 3-0 in her singles matches last week, clinching a 4-3 victory over Morgan State with a three-set win at No. 5. Dunn also won at No. 5 singles against The Mount and at No. 4 singles against UMES.
The Greyhounds continue non-conference competition this week, beginning today with the District of Columbia. They begin MAAC play on Friday, March 28 at Rider and conclude their season at the MAAC Championships from April 18th through April 20th at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.
