Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's tennis teams completed Day One of competition at the Hampton Roads Collegiate in Norfolk, Va. on Saturday. Among the singles winners included senior Scott Gannon on the women's side and Caitlyn Day, Lauren Cassle and Andie Keyser- Baker on the women's side.
Gannon won at B Singles with a hard fought 6-3, 6-7(4), 1-0(4) win. Senior Ben Epstein fell 6-0, 6-3 in the same flight, while Tim Koch fell in straight sets in C Singles action. The Greyhounds also dropped three matches in D Singles with Dan D'Agostino, Rob Mattison and Jamie Russo all falling in straight sets.
In women's singles play, Cassle and Keyser-Baker each won first- and second-round matches in Flight D. Cassle first claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win in the Round of 32, before a 5-7, 1-0(9) in the Round of 16. Keyser-Baker won by scores of 5-7, 6-4 and 6-2, 2-6. 1-0(7).
In Doubles B action, Epstein and Gannon fell 8-2, while Tim Koch and Matt McDaniel fell 8-3 in Doubles C action. Chris Langley and Russo also fell in Doubles C play. The women also fell in doubles action with Joy Johnson and Kerri Swan teaming up in C play, while Cassle and Keyser-Baker and McKenna and Tarca won in D action.
The Greyhounds conclude action at the Hampton Roads Collegiate on Sunday afternoon.
