West Point, N.Y. - Loyola's women's tennis team dropped opening-day matches at the Eastern Collegiate in West Point, N.Y. on Friday. The Greyhounds played four freshmen in the tournament's four singles brackets, and despite the final results, gained confidence in their performance.

Teammates Caitlyn Day and Stephanie Dunn played in the No. 1 and No. 2 brackets respectively; and both played foes from Albany. Day fell 6-4, 7-6(4), while Dunn battled to a 7-6(3), 6-2 defeat to Chris Saurez.

Freshman Lauren Cassle, who was also bracketed into the Round of 16, fell in straight sets to Coleen Speaker of West Virginia.

The Eastern Collegiate continues on Saturday and Sunday from West Point. The Greyhounds, who played at the Towson 4+1 Tournament last weekend, begin dual-match competition at Coppin State on Thursday, September 21.
