BALTIMORE, Md. - Sophomore Meagan McKenna and junior Christi Lazar each won a pair of matches to lead the Greyhound women's tennis team (1-0) to a 5-2 victory over Coppin State University in the Greyhounds' season opener on Wednesday afternoon.
McKenna helped the Greyhounds win the doubles point by teaming up with Lazar to earn an 8-1 win in number two doubles. The Greyhounds swept the doubles matches as seniors Amy Nitch and Jessica Liberatore won at number one doubles and senior Stefanie Clay and sophomore Mallory Tarca won at number three doubles by default.
McKenna earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number three singles while Lazar earned a straight-set victory at number four singles. Clay and Tarca earned default victories at number five and number six singles, respectively.
The Greyhound women will compete in the Bucknell Invitational this weekend.
