Women's Tennis Opens Season At Towson Tournament

Towson, Md. - The Loyola women's tennis team began its season at the Towson 4+1 Tournament on Friday, playing Mount St. Mary's and St. Joseph's in a non-team scoring matches. The matches marked the college debuts of several Loyola freshmen, who played in both singles and doubles competition.

In singles action Loyola received its first win of the season when Kerri Swan defeated Gina DiGiacomo of SJU, 6-1, 6-4. Caitlyn Day fell to Mount's No. 1 player, Kaitlin Hallahan, 6-4, 6-2. Other debuts included Stephanie Dunn, Lauren Cassle.

Loyola's freshman doubles tandem of Jennifer Zutz and Suzanne Lee, who replace the school's all-time leading doubles team of Amy Nitch and Jessica Liberatore (53 wins with the same partner) dropped a 6-3 match in their Greyhound debut.
