Baltimore, Md. - Loyola's women rebounded from a tough loss, to defeat Marist College 4-3, place third at the 2004 MAAC Tennis Championships in Flushing, N.Y. The Greyhounds split their singles matches but in doubles competition, they bested the Red Foxes in 2-of -3 matches.
In doubles competition, Loyola again received a strong performance from the No. 2 and No. 3 teams. Amy Nitch and Jessica Liberatore won the No. 2 contest 8-4, while the No. 3 duo of Gina Turturiello and Clair Najour defeated their opponents 8-5.
Loyola split their singles' matches with the second-seeded Red Foxes, as the Greyhounds won the No. 3, 4 and 5 contests. Gina Turturiello, Amy Nitch and Claire Najour all scored points for Loyola in both doubles and singles competition, on the way to an impressive third place finish at the MAAC Championship.
